From San José to Sierpe and Drake Bay

You can choose between the traditional international road (San Isidro) and the new road along the coast to Quepos, Dominical and get to Palmar Norte. After the bridge over the Terraba river turn right, go thru banana and palm oil plantations and get to the village of Sierpe (time approx. 5 hours). At Sierpe park your car in one of the local parking and continue the journey by boat to Drake Bay.

By Bus
TRACOPA is the bus company which travels daily to the South  area of the country (Aves. 18-20, street 5) . You must buy the ticket to Palmar Norte the previous day.

If you want to get to Drake Bay on the same day, take the 5,00am bus, and get to Palmar Norte around 11.00 a.m. (duration approx. 5-6 hours). In Palmar Norte take a taxi to Sierpe (time approx. 18 minutes). In Sierpe you will find the boats to Drake Bay. Shall arrive at Sierpe before 11:30 am to take the boat on time.

By Plane
National airlines “SANSA” (International Airport) and “NATUREAIR (of the regional airport Pavas) fly daily to Drake Bay and Palmar Sur (duration approx. 45 minutes). Then take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. You can buy your airline ticket easily over the Internet on sites in the airlines www.flysansa.com,  www.natureair.com.  If you need assistance please contact us. We will organize any local transportation for you.

From Sierpe to Drake Bay

The boat trip from Sierpe to Drake Bay takes about 1,30 hour. Traveling over the Sierpe river is an amazing experience, you have the chance to observe the mangroves, birds and crocodiles, bats. After crossing the mouth of the river you will continue into the sea but near the coast until arrive at Drake Beach.

¨Warning¨:  yours feet are going to get wet, when you get off the boat! Our hotel is located 100 meters from the beach, but please advise us so we can meet you on time.
